Irrigation & drainage solutions in Piqua & Miami County

Too much water in the wrong place drowns lawns, kills trees and finds its way into basements. Too little in summer burns everything out. We manage both.

Much of Miami County sits on heavy, clay-rich soils left behind by glaciers. They hold water, drain slowly, and turn low spots into ponds after every big rain. Add downspouts dumping right at the foundation or a yard that slopes the wrong way, and you get soggy turf, mosquito puddles, and wet basements.

We start by finding where the water comes from and where it wants to go, then fix it with the simplest thing that works. That might be regrading, extending downspouts underground, or a properly built drain that carries water to a safe outlet. For lawns and beds that struggle in July and August, we’ll talk through irrigation options that put water where plants need it without waste.

Signs of a water problem
  • Standing water in the yard a day or more after it rains
  • Soggy, spongy turf, moss, or grass dying out in low areas
  • Downspouts emptying right against the foundation
  • Water in the basement or crawlspace after heavy rain
  • Erosion, washed-out mulch, or gullies on slopes
  • Lawns and beds that burn out every summer

How it works

From first look to final rake.

  1. 1

    Watch the water

We look at where it collects, where it comes from, and where it can legally and safely go. Photos taken during a rain help a lot.

  2. 2

    Design the fix

Start with the simplest option that solves the problem, priced clearly.

  3. 3

    Locate and install

Utilities are marked through Ohio811, then we grade, trench and install.

  4. 4

    Restore the yard

Trenches and disturbed areas are backfilled, graded and seeded.

What affects the price

Straight answers on cost.

Every property is different, so we price after we’ve seen the job. Estimates are free, and you’ll know the full scope and price before anything starts. These are the things that move the number:

  • Where the water is coming from and how much there is
  • Distance to a suitable outlet
  • Length of drain or downspout lines and depth of trenching
  • Amount of regrading
  • Lawn restoration after the work
Questions

Common questions

Why does my yard stay wet for days after it rains?

Usually some combination of low spots, compacted or clay-heavy soil, and roof water dumping into the yard. Most wet yards need more than one fix, which is why we look at the whole picture first.

Will a drain fix my wet basement?

Moving surface water and downspout runoff away from the foundation is often the most effective first step. Water coming up through the floor or from a high water table may need a waterproofing contractor, and we’ll tell you if that’s what we see.

Do you install irrigation systems?

Tell us what you’re trying to water, whether a lawn, beds or new plantings, and we’ll talk through options that fit your property and budget.

Can trees help with drainage?

Somewhat. Trees take up a lot of water, and the right water-tolerant species can help in a damp spot. But a tree won’t fix a grading problem, and many trees struggle in standing water. We’ll help you pick the right tree for your tree-promise planting.
